| Crystal River is a city in Citrus County. It has an estimated population of 3,600, as of 2005. Crystal River was incorporated in 1903 and is the self-professed "Home of the Manatee." It is located on the Crystal River and is home to the Crystal River 3 Nuclear Generating Station, a nuclear power plant. Crystal River has a total area of 6.3 square miles of which 9.09% is water. Famous residents include Layne Redmond; Ginny Brown-Waite (US Congresswoman (R) ); Jeff Cunningham, Major League Soccer player; Art Fleming, original host of Jeopardy!; and Mike Hampton, Major League Baseball Player for the Atlanta Braves. |
