Marco Island is part of Collier County in Southwest Florida. Located on the Gulf of Mexico, Marco Island is four miles wide and six miles long and is the largest of Florida's Ten Thousand Islands. It is a world class destination with white sandy beaches and an easy paced lifestyle. Marco Island has miles of uninhabited land all around it. To its north is the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research, to the south are the Ten Thousand Islands, along with 70 coastal miles of fly fishing areas. Also to the south is Collier-Seminole State Park, the Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge, Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve, Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park. Marco Island boasts dependable year-round weather, luxurious real estate, fine shopping and dining, lively entertainment and attractions and a variety of recreational activities. The island is home to 14,000 year-round residents and about 30,000 seasonal residents. It's hard to blame the vacationers and winter residents for going to Marco Island, especially with its beautiful sunshine and winter afternoon temperatures around the mid 70's. |
