| Escambia County was named for the Escambia River. It was created in 1821 and was one of Florida's two original counties. It has a total area of 876 square miles with 213 square miles of water. It is located on the extreme Northwestern corner of Floria, bordered on the north and west by Alabama, on the east by Santa Rosa County and on the south by the Gulf of Mexico. Escambia County has a little bit of everything. From casual beach living to an open farm land, Escambia County is also a great place to visit, live and work. It's county seat is Pensacola and its population is currently estimated at 296,709. |
