| Ocala is the county seat of Marion County. It has a total area of 38.6 square miles, all land, though the 110 mile long Ocklawaha River flows birth from Central Florida until in joins the St. John's River near Palatka. Ocala has surrounding farms which are famous for their thoroughbred horses. The city is also known for Silver Springs, which is the site of one of the largest artesian spring formation in the world. Silver Springs Nature Theme Park is also located in Ocala. There are several major highways that pass through Ocala, including I-75, US Highway 27, US Route 301, and US Highway 441. The city is located on the Western leg of Dixie Highway. |
