As of the census of 2000, there were 3,101 people, 1,417 households, and 916 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 921.0/km² (2,385.8/mi²). There were 1,701 housing units at an average density of 505.2/km² (1,308.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 97.84% White, 0.52% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.61% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.26% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races. 1.81% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 1,417 households out of which 21.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.7% were married couples living together, 7.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% were non-families. 29.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.68.
