| St. Johns County is a county with an estimated population of 161,521, as of 2005. Its county seat is St. Augustine, but it also includes Hastings, Jacksonville, Marineland, and St. Augustine Beach. St. Johns County is known to be one of the highest-income counties in the country. It is also part of the Greater Jacksonville Metropolitan area. St. Johns County was named for St. John the Baptist and created in 1821. With the Suwannee River being the boundary between the two, St. Johns County and Escambia County were Florida's original two counties.
