| DeKalb County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of 2000, the population was 686,712. According to the 2006 U.S. Census Bureau estimate, the county's population had risen to 723,602. The county seat is Decatur, Georgia. DeKalb County is included in the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the second-largest county in the Atlanta area, just behind Fulton County. DeKalb County has the headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. |
